We recommend appointments To Better Serve You

Jewelry is a form of expression

Whether it is to express your love for someone, your faith, your membership in an organization, or your self ... all jewelry is a form of expression in one way or another.

We take the time to work with you, ask you questions, and show you ideas to get a feel for your style and how you'd like your custom jewelry piece to look. When I work with you to create a piece of custom jewelry, it is indeed designed with you in mind. During our visit together, you and I will determine your style and what appeals to you. By the time we are done, the piece will be something YOU have created. I just help you to sketch it out! The design will be uniquely yours reflecting and expressing your unique style.

At Roemer Originals we use only the most highly skilled craftsmen to carve, cast, finish and set your one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. When you own a Roemer Original, you can take pride in knowing that you are wearing one of the finest pieces of custom jewelry made in the world today.

We hope you will give us an opportunity to show you how the Roemer experience is so very different than that of the typical jewelry store. Choose a piece from our extensive selection of finished jewelry or create a custom design of your own. Roemer Originals ... where you make the diffrence.

Since 1975

The Roemer Originals' Store Interior From the start, as Monterey Metal Arts, on Cannery Row in Southern California, a purist approach to design and quality has always been first and foremost. In 1975 Bruce Roemer, sculptur and owner of Monterey Metal Arts, made his full time commitment to fine jewelry by opening Roemer Originals in his hometown of St. Charles, Missouri. Over the years Bruce created, on average, eight custom pieces per week and invented and patented many innovative and beautiful design ideas that became part of the Roemer reputation. In 2001, he hired Melinda Nolan to be a part of his team as a designer, diamond grader and appraiser. After years of dedication, Bruce retired from the business in April of 2005. Melinda is now taking Roemer Originals into the future to carry on the same great quality and service as in the past with plans to build upon the great foundation to make Roemer Originals better than ever.

Luz Roemer Luz Roemer

Luz (pronounced Looozz) was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and moved here to Saint Charles County in 1977. She worked over 18 years for oral surgeons as an assistant and office manager. She is amazing at keeping the operations running smoothly and taking care of all of the details that our customers never see in the back office. Being in the dental industry for so long, she also developed her skills in working with the patients and having compassion and understanding of their needs. She is wonderful at serving the customer and since many of the same techniques are used in creating crowns for teeth as in the creating jewelry, she entered the jewelry industry with an understanding of the processes of custom design. Luz has been with Roemer Originals since 1994 helping in operations and serving our customers.

“I love the people that I work with and feel appreciated for the work that I do. We all live by the same morals and integrity, which is so important when you work closely together in a small business.”

“I try my best to treat everyone as I would want to be treated.”

Luz is patient and accommodating and will go the extra mile to make sure the people around her are happy. She is a joy to be around and a valuable asset to our store.

Tom C. Nolan Tom C. Nolan

Tom was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but was raised in the St. Louis area since he was 3 years old. A graduate from Troy Senior High in 2003, Tom has worked in several retail and customer service positions since he was sixteen. He started in the jewelry industry in January of 2005 thinking it might be a fun and interesting industry to learn with lots of directions available for his future. Since then he continued to work toward his associate’s degree at Saint Charles Community College. Tom has also achieved certificates in Basic Bench Repairs and Basic Stone Setting through the New Approach School of Jewelry. From January through July of 2008 he will be attending school, full time, in Los Angeles, California at the Gemological Institute of America to earn his Graduate Gemologist degree. All of these skills enable him to help the customers in repairing jewelry, and allow him the understanding and techniques to design pieces of jewelry. His G.G. certification will train him to identify all of the various gemstones using different pieces of equipment and the microscope. This is one of the most respected degrees that can be earned in the jewelry industry. With all of Tom’s training, creativity, and wonderful people skills, he will continue to be very successful in the jewelry industry and we are very proud to have him on our team.

“I like the friendly, helpful and educated people that I work with. I also like the patented features and unique style of Roemer’s pieces and being a part of the design and repair process.”

Tom wants people to know that we have “something for everyone”. “We also have a very warm and friendly atmosphere with NO pressure, because we don’t work on commission.”

That means, if you need some time to think about it, we’re just as friendly then as we are when you walk in. We are just there to help, not to “sell” you.

Marge Ploudre Marge Ploudre

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Marge has worked in sales for 30 years. “I was fortunate to work with the Roemer staff to use assorted pieces of old jewelry to assemble a new and unique ring. I have been so impressed with the warmth and joy that this brings to me each day that I decided to change my profession.”

Marge is now a full time employee, studying to earn the GIA Diamond Essentials Certification. “It is such a pleasure to help people create the “perfect” piece of jewelry to represent the special moments of their lives.”

Leslie Spears Leslie Spears

Leslie was born and raised in St. Charles and has worked at Roemer Originals seasonally for a few years prior to joining the team on a part time basis in October 2006. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Truman State University. She is currently working on her second Master’s degree in Administration.

Leslie has worked in various retail positions that have helped her be comfortable with customers. “Although I don’t have training in the jewelry field, I love jewelry and love to help people find the right pieces to compliment their style.”

“I never used to wear jewelry before working at Roemer’s. Now I don’t leave the house without it! There are so many endless possibilities with jewelry these days.”

Leslie has learned a lot over the last year working at the store and educates her friends about jewelry. She loves the excitement of presenting a piece that the customer has been anxiously awaiting.
